The Doorways, based in Richmond, VA is a home away from home for for patients and their loved ones who need to be close to the hospital during critical medical treatment. They provide housing, being located in a 117 bed hotel, and many other amenities to help make guests’ stays feel more like home.
I collaborated with Journey Seven, a Richmond based video production company, as well as Red Orange Studio, a creative and branding agency on a two day shoot to capture images and video content that represented all of the work that The Doorways does to help make their guests’ lives easier. We captured the interior and exterior spaces as well as lifestyle shots of guests interacting with staff members and engaging in daily life activities within the facility. Our goal for the imagery was to inspire hope, be bright and uplifting — showcasing joy and the feeling of being “at home”. In addition to capturing content related to the space and its guests, we also captured environmental headshots of staff members, testimonial videos of leadership, volunteers, guests and donors highlighting what The Doorways means to those involved.
The Doorways planned to use this content on their website, in brand materials, on social media, in advertising and brand awareness campaigns and more. Here are a few of the images we captured during the production:
